Life in the country....

Wow, its been a while since I have been on here. So many things have changed, I don't know where to begin.

We did move back to my home town. Life got really crazy around that time. We found a house that was being foreclosed on. We had one day to look at it, decide if we liked it and make a bid on it. When you buy a foreclosure house you don't get to have an inspection or do any of the other stuff that protects you from buying a money pit. This is not to big of deal for us because my husband used to be a general contractor and can fix about anything.

Now...the house...well lets say it's a fixer upper. It was built in 1973 and has not been updated since. Some might be very uncomfortable with this idea but for me it gives me a chance to put my decorating skills to the test. It is a traditional style two story home. It has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, formal living room, family room, dinning room, eat in kitchen and a rec-room in the basement. It sits on 6 acres, eight minutes outside of town. There are beautiful mature trees, peony bushes, lilac bushes, a huge area for a garden and a pasture for horses. All sounds great right....well....the space is there but the house need soooo much work.

Now onto the problem areas....these are all the things we have to do before I can even think about fun decorating ideas.

Replace all flooring through out the house

Replace all the siding on the outside of the house

Replace 8 windows

Replace door going out to the deck

Replace toilet in powder bath

Those are a few of the major projects

Some of the fun things I will be working on....

Painting the kitchen cabinets,

Painting the the family room and doing new window treatments,

Painting and decorating the little boys room...vintage cowboy or vintage planes

Setting up my craft room

Making the laundry room inviting

Painting many pieces of goodwill furniture that I have bought

Turning hand-me-down furniture look great for the formal living room

Turning a bathroom closet into something glamorous

Wish me luck....so much to do, plus four very busy kids and a part-time job. I will try to get back on the posting train.
